Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) If I don’t take my car to the dealer, will it void my warranty?

  • Many dealerships take advantage of their existing relationship with you by providing low quality work at inflated prices.
  • There are many ways to void your warranty, but bringing your car to an ASE Certified Master Technician is not one of them. In fact, your warranty requires you to follow regular maintenance at scheduled intervals and for all work to be performed by a qualified mechanic. If you have limited financial resources, your dealer’s service center may force you to put off regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs because of the high financial burdens.
  • We only use parts that meet or exceed all specifications for your make and model.
  • If you want to void your warranty DON’T bring your car in to an expert technician for scheduled inspections/maintenance.

Is your service the possible best value?

  • We post our fixed hourly service rate online ($70). Call your auto dealer and ask them what hourly service rate they are charging. See if you can get a straight answer, then ask what kind of markup they add to spare parts. After that fun exercise, bring your car to us for better service at a better price.
  • We also offer a discount for Fleet Service.

What if I have a problem that is hard to diagnose and fix?

  • Inspection, troubleshooting, and diagnosis are our specialties. Some mechanics will suggest expensive services that they “guess” will fix your problem. Then you get the car back and it’s having the same issue as when you brought it in. We will never “fix” anything until after the problem has been accurately diagnosed. As you will see in our code of ethics, we will not charge you for repair services that do not ultimately relate to your problem. Only an inferior technician would do business that way and you should expect better.

Do all of the parts you use meet factory specifications for my make/model of vehicle

  • Yes! And unlike your dealer, we don’t add huge markups. Unlike the dealer we can recommend and order any kind of part you specify (if it will meet specifications for your make and model). If you prefer certain brand parts just let us know.

What is the charge for a Maryland vehicle safely inspection?

  • For complete vehicle safety inspections, you pay $105 (Maryland mandates this price. A complete inspection routine takes one and a half hours).

If you provide me an estimate, and I’m not ready to have the work performed right away, what is the charge/policy?

  • You are free to pay only the inspection/diagnosis fee and to pick up your car. We will honor all estimates for 30 days.

What types of cars do you commonly provide service for? Asian and Domestic

  • We are well equipped to handle domestic cars and Asian imports. We have all of the necessary Diagnostic and maintenance equipment, and we rarely have a problem obtaining parts or service instructions. For this type of car you can’t beat our prices and quality.

  • We hope that you will choose us to perform your basic services as this will save you from having to unnecessarily pay exorbitant prices found at import dealers for even basic repairs and maintenance. We can perform most maintenance and services for European vehicles, however detailed service information or parts can be limited by the manufacturer in some cases. If an accurate diagnosis can not be guaranteed for your repair, we will refer you to a business that may better be able to assist you.

I have an unusual vintage or performance auto. Can you provide maintenance or service?

  • Yes! We love working on vintage and performance machines. We may not have parts in stock, but we can order anything that is required. On the other hand, if you would be better served at another business, we will readily provide a referral rather than fail to meet your expectations.
